WOSB vs Male Owned Businesses on GSA Schedule

I recently conducted a comparison between woman owned and male owned businesses that have GSA Schedules. I assumed, for the sake of my argument, that all GSA firms that had the WOSB designation were woman owned and the rest were not. I made the assumption (which is not always a wise thing to do) that a woman owned business would not go through the GSA Schedule process without having gone through the less time intensive process of obtaining the WOSB Certification first.

Of small businesses, woman owned firms made up 28.5% of the total population 3,401 vs 8,553 male owned businesses.

The three industries where women owned firms made up their largest concentrations were:

- Professional Services - 37% (1,105/2,969)
- Human Capital - 36% (176/488)
- Equipment Related Services - 30% (12/40)

The Industries where women owned small businesses had higher average sales were: Industrial Products and Services, IT, and Security and Protection. See the Chart below:

If you would like to find out more about being on GSA Schedule and/or how you could combine that with an 8(a) Certification to take your business development potential to the next level, I always recommend contacting an industry expert such as Advance GSA or ez8a. Both can help you to obtain federal, state, and even private sector contracts. Neither charge for an initial consultation.
