We conducted an analysis from d2d.gsa.gov for the past 15 years of 8(a) IT firms that obtained a GSA Schedule. (This reflects only the sales derived directly from the firm's GSA Schedule.)
The results showed that 8(a) firms want to get an IT Schedule in Year 1 to take full advantage of their 9 years of 8(a) BD Program eligibility. As you can see below, delaying a year can cost a firm large sales volume at the end of their program life.
Therefore, we advise 8(a) firms to obtain a GSA Schedule simultaneously with obtaining their 8(a) Certification.
$557,044 - Average Year 1 GSA IT Sales — Money left on the table in theory for every year you delay.
$15.59 Million - Cumulative GSA IT Sales over the full 9-year program — if you start fully in Year 1.

Don’t let a delay cost you….
If you would like to find out if your firm currently qualifies for an 8(a) Certification, I always recommend contacting an industry expert such as ez8a or Advance GSA. You would also be remiss in not exploring a GSA Schedule at the same time, as explained, if your firm is eligible. Neither charge for an initial consultation.
