GSA & Temporary Staffing

A trend going on in the Federal marketplace is the aging workforce of the federal government. Additionally, once many of these federal employees reach retirement age, they retire at the earliest possible date and move into the private sector.

This has caused a shortfall in federal employment levels at many agencies. In addition, due to COVID related issues, a lot of agencies are worried about their head count as it’s difficult to currently go through the interview process.

As a result of the current environment, Federal Staffing was at its highest level in 2020. This should continue to be a growth sector moving forward, and 2020 was a record year for staffing.

Below is a graph for NAICS Code 561320 Temporary Help Services from 2011 moving forward. Clearly, there is a growth trend for ‘Temporary Help Services’ within the federal government. I think it demonstrates that over the past 10 years the federal government has greatly increased its use of staffing agencies.
