NVBDC – National Veteran Business Development Council Certification

1.  The federal government’s SDVOSB spending goal is 3% of contracts = $20.6 billion annual opportunity (2019 numbers).

2.  More than 400 of FORTUNE® 1000 companies set goals to include VBEs and SDVBEs in their Supplier Diversity Programs.

3.  There are almost 22,000 VA CVE certified SDVOSB firms competing in the government space, but fewer than 300 (1.3%) active NVBDC certified Veteran-owned businesses competing in the private sector space.

4.  The corporations affiliated with NVBDC have reported over $2 Billion in supplier spend with Veteran businesses over the past two years.

Note:  Corporate America buys more goods for more money, with less bureaucracy than Government.  Should you play in this continuously growing space?

Examples of NVBDC Opportunities

1.  More than 50 significant procurement opportunities have been provided by corporate America seeking certified veteran owned suppliers over the last year or so.

2.  Ford Motor Company spent $1.7B (an NVBDC member) in 2017 with Veteran-owned companies.

3.  McGough, Adolfson & Peterson and Knutson Construction have provided 5 separate commercial construction projects seeking Veteran-owned businesses.

4.  AT&T spent $243 million with Disabled Veteran enterprises in 2018, and spends between $80 and $200 million on 500-600 commercial construction projects each year through the Beck Group – and are now seeking to bring Veteran-owned companies into these opportunities.

5.  The Miami 2020 Super Bowl sought Veteran-owned businesses for 42 different product/service areas to support their Super Bowl.

6.  135 corporations have been identified as having a veteran friendly supplier diversity department.

Benefits of NVBDC Certification

•  NVBDC Certification opens the doors to private sector supplier diversity, creating the single best opportunity for a Veteran-owned business to dramatically scale up their business;

•  Provides Veteran-owned businesses the opportunity to promote themselves to corporations through conferences, trade fairs, special events and the development of alliances with businesses, Veteran’s groups and governmental organizations;

•  Addresses key barriers for opportunity with Primes, Tier 1 and Tier 2 companies;

•  Certifying your veteran owned business through the NVBDC not only allows you a seat at the table of the supplier diversity departments of major corporations, but it can also assist you with introductions to win business.
